To be polite, the suction cup didn't stay suctioned to the glass very well. So, I removed the Via's factory mount (just pull the ball connector from the back of the Via) and attached the ball adapter from the vent mount.I tried to lock the adapter to the connector for the vent mount, but it wouldn't budge past a couple millimeters. I wanted it to be a quick release, so I could leave the vent mount attached to the vent and just remove the adapter before getting out of the car. Here's how I fixed it. Its not as secure as a permanent mount but it keeps the unit in a good position and holds it solid enough to tap the screen. It mounts easily, though removing and reattaching the gps from the quick release is a 2 hand affair. If you dont want to commit to screw holes in the dash, but are frustrated with the suction mount and dont want to spend alot, this is the mount for you. Works well on my tomtom 1535. |
